alternative learning programme (ALP)
A good school should be able to mainstream children with physical impairment and learning difficulties as far as possible within the limited capacity of its resources and staff. At the C.A.S. the Alternative Learning Programme (ALP) is designed to provide tailored programmes for students with learning difficulties, including remedial assistance. The 14-member ALP faculty and staff work closely with teachers and parents and, in some cases, with their attending doctors. The ALP team also works in close liaison with the Department of Psychiatry at the Aga Khan University Hospital.
The ALP faculty comprises a Coordinator of the Department, a clinical psychologist, three occupational therapists, two remedial teachers and seven resource teachers.
